A Legacy of Flavor

In 1978, Italian immigrant Pasquale "Pat" Giammarco brought his family's pizza recipe from the small town of Sulmona, Italy to Toledo, Ohio. With just a small oven and a dream, he opened the first Marco Pizza, determined to share authentic Italian flavors with his new community.

What started as a humble neighborhood pizzeria has grown into a beloved national brand, but we've never lost sight of our roots. Every pizza we make still follows Pasquale's original recipe, using the same attention to detail and passion for quality ingredients.

Today, with over 1,000 locations across the United States, we remain committed to our founding principle: authentic ingredients, traditional methods, and the unmistakable taste of Italy in every bite.

1978

The Beginning

Pasquale Giammarco opens the first Marco Pizza in Toledo, Ohio. Using his grandmother's dough recipe and imported San Marzano tomatoes, he quickly gains a loyal following.

1985

Expansion Begins

The success of the original location leads to the opening of three more Marco Pizza restaurants in Ohio. Each maintains the original recipes and quality standards.

1995

National Recognition

Marco Pizza receives the "Best Chain Pizza" award from Pizza Today magazine, cementing our reputation for quality and taste.

2005

500 Locations

We celebrate the opening of our 500th location, spanning 25 states across the country while maintaining our commitment to authentic Italian pizza.
